Our Founding Story
Strive for Jannah Foundation (S4JF) is a Ugandan-based Islamic charitable organisation established in 2016 with a clear and enduring mission: to facilitate ongoing charity - Sadaqat Jariya, by connecting generous donors with vulnerable communities across Uganda.
Inspired by the Prophetic tradition of continuous charity that benefits the giver even after death, S4JF was founded on the conviction that small, consistent acts of giving, pooled together, can transform lives. The Foundation’s name itself is a statement of intent: every action, every contribution, and every project is oriented towards earning the pleasure of Allah and striving for Jannah.
The idea was initiated by Hajjati Lazia Namutebi, with the aim of extending assistance to underprivileged communities in Uganda. This was then shared with her family members, relatives, and friends. The Foundation started with 70 active members and is guided by the Islamic principles of empathy, generosity, and selflessness.
Over a decade, S4JF has grown from a small circle of like-minded individuals into a structured charitable organisation with a Board of Trustees, active donor community, and a portfolio of sustained programmes spanning education, water and sanitation, food relief, and community welfare.
The Foundation’s donor base comprises 194 registered members as at May 2026 (Female: ~74% | Male: ~26%), drawn primarily from Uganda’s Muslim professional community with a significant diaspora contingent across the UK, USA, Canada and beyond. Contributions are received via mobile money, bank transfer, and in-kind donations. (Uganda-based: ~171 members | Diaspora (UK, USA, Canada, Europe, Asia): ~23 members).
